Breckenridge Quaffing Tournament @ The Quandary Grille
Quandary Grille / Maggie Pond
March 10th, 2018 @ 4:20pm
The Breckenridge Distillery & Breckenridge Brewery Gelanda Quaffing Tourney
Drinking will make a man quaff, Quaffing will make a man sing, Singing will make a man laugh, And laughing long life doth bring, Says old Simon the King.
16 Teams will battle head to head, sliding a beer down the Q table to another team member who must catch it mid-air (quaffers must stand at least 24in from the end of the bar) and down it. Successfully doing so earns a single point. Catch the stein by the handle and you get two points. The team with the most points at the end of 60 seconds advances, and the other team spends the rest of the early evening drinking non-competitively.
This event will be held outside – snow or shine!
Must be 21 with valid ID to participate.
Only 16 teams can compete – register early!
- Competition consists of 16 teams of 4 people each.
- Register early – competition begins at 4:20PM and runs roughly hours.
- Competition is highly regulated with judges & officials and prizes ($140 for winning team and $80 for 2nd place).
Dont miss this event!

Bacon and Bourbon Featured on Modern Gladiator
Bacon, Bourbon, and Breckenridge…Oh My!
That’s right – this quarter’s article isn’t about a single tasting of bourbon, it’s about a festival dedicated to the nectar of the gods! Sorry folks, this won’t have my normal tasting notes but we’ll get back to that in the next issue.
Moving on to the bourbon festival . . . because it was fun! And tasty! And there was A LOT of bourbon. This is a time when you definitely have to pace yourself or you’ll be face down in the lake before the sun goes down.
The second annual Breckenridge Hogfest, Bacon & Bourbon, took place on Saturday, August 26 in Breckenridge’s Main Street Station . . . and not only did it feature Denver favorite Tender Belly bacon, it also featured a number of bourbons to keep your taste buds in heaven for hours if not days. Not to mention, they had two live bands to keep up with all of those bourbon drinkers.
